- Part-time We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to provide part-time contract accounting support for a Washington State public school district.
This position offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to contribute to the financial stewardship of a student-focused organization. Responsibilities Assist with budget development, monitoring, and management Prepare and post journal entries Perform general ledger reconciliations Complete bank reconciliations Support accounts receivable functions Prepare audit work papers and assist with annual audit processes Assist with Washington State school district financial reporting, including F-195, F-196, and F-203 reports Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to support sound fiscal management Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, state regulations, and district policies Collaborate with district business office staff on accounting and financial reporting projects Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field Three to five years of accounting experience, preferably in K-12 education, government, or other public-sector organizations Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration (MBA), or related field Experience with Washington State school district accounting and reporting requirements Familiarity with accounting code structures and fund accounting Experience with Skyward/Qmlativ financial systems CPA designation is welcomed but not required Experience with Washington State K-12 accounting and OSPI reporting requirements strongly preferred. Additional Information Candidates who are available to work on-site will be given preference; however, remote work arrangements may be considered based on experience and qualifications.
