Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Collections Agent to manage and collect outstanding accounts receivable related to commercial construction and commercial service work . This is a work-from-home position and is ideal for someone with hands-on experience collecting construction-related debts who can work independently and communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and internal project teams. The ideal candidate understands the unique challenges of construction collections, including past-due invoices, retainage, disputed charges, payment delays, and working with general contractors and commercial customers. Key Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of past-due commercial construction and service accounts. Contact customers, general contractors, and accounts payable departments regarding outstanding balances. Make professional collection calls and send follow-up emails and correspondence. Research and resolve billing and payment issues that are preventing payment. Work with Project Managers, Accounting, and Operations to resolve disputed invoices. Track collection activity, customer commitments, and promised payment dates. Follow up consistently on broken payment commitments and delinquent accounts. Identify accounts requiring escalation and make recommendations regarding collection strategy. Assist with resolving issues involving invoices, change orders, retainage, credits, and payment applications. Maintain accurate and detailed collection notes and account records. Provide regular updates on outstanding accounts and collection progress. Assist with identifying accounts that may require additional collection or legal action. Perform other accounts receivable and collections duties as needed. Required Qualifications Previous experience collecting commercial construction or commercial service debt is required. Understanding of commercial construction billing and payment processes. Experience communicating with general contractors, subcontractors, commercial customers, and accounts payable departments. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to professionally handle difficult conversations and negotiate payment arrangements. Strong organization and follow-up skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Comfortable working remotely and managing assigned accounts without constant oversight. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard accounting/collections software. Preferred Qualifications Experience working for a commercial construction subcontractor. Experience with plumbing, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, or other construction trades. Knowledge of construction lien and payment processes. Experience working with retainage, change orders, pay applications, and disputed invoices. Construction accounting or accounts receivable experience. Schedule Part-Time | Work From Home Flexible part-time schedule based on business needs. The ideal candidate will be available during normal business hours for customer and contractor communication. Compensation Competitive hourly rate based on experience and construction collections background. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who knows construction collections , not simply someone with general collections experience. The right person will be comfortable picking up the phone, having difficult conversations, following up consistently, and working through the issues that commonly delay payment in commercial construction. If you have a proven track record of collecting outstanding construction or commercial service accounts and are looking for a flexible work-from-home opportunity, we'd like to hear from you.
