Job Description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for carrying out tasks impacting the general ledger. The Senior Accountant is required to process journal entries and post transaction activity including intercompany transactions as well as reconcile the general ledger accounts. Staff accountants will support the senior accountant in developing the balance sheet, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting policies and procedures to assist in maintaining financial records and ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded. The Senior Accountant will perform day-to-day accounting activities and month-end close activities by applying practical knowledge of the function typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.
Essential Functions:

Maintains fixed asset records, using Sage software. 2.Completes inventory and cost adjustments in ERP system. 3.Processes Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions. 4.Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations. 5. Assists in updating Bill of Materials (BOM) 6. Supports month-end and year-end close process by: Ensures tasks are completed on time & all deadlines for month end reporting are met Processes recurring & standard journal entries Prepares & record accrual journal entries. Records & Reconcile Intercompany transactions Takes ownership in GL accounts assigned to you and be able to explain variances Prepares of a monthly reporting workbook, fixed assets and Intercompany balances. 7. Ensures compliance with GAAP principles. 8. Investigates and explains expense and inventory variances providing root causes. 9. Identifies inefficiencies and recommend improvements to systems and procedures. 10. Assist with preparation of documents required for local tax reporting as needed (such as sales tax, property taxes, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports) 11. Assists with internal and external audit samples. 12. Manages and executes all processes for closing the books, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations including Prepaid and Accrual accounts 13. Ad hoc projects as required. 14. Other duties can be assigned based on company needs and employee capabilities.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. At times, due to projects or work assignments, employee will need to coordinate and direct a team to meet/satisfy individual/company objectives.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. At times, employee might be exposed to manufacturing environment, including forklift traffic, fumes, noise, and operating manufacturing equipment.
Physical Demands:
1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 2. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. To meet our customer demands and internal objectives, at times this role will be required to work outside of the normal schedule, including weekends.
Travel:
There will be occasional local day travel or overnight travel as it relates to training activities or support of assigned plants/locations.
Required Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent work experience and/or education.
Preferred Education and Experience:
1. 5 years' experience working in a fast pace, high-growth company. 2. Manufacturing environment experience using an ERP software preferred.
