Discretionary Company Overview A growing, well-established organization operating in a regulated, technical environment is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. The company is known for its commitment to quality, precision, and long-term customer relationships, and is experiencing continued growth that requires strengthening its accounting infrastructure. This role will work closely with the Controller and broader finance team and is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on accounting, strong balance sheet ownership, and Excel-heavy analysis. Position Overview The Senior Accountant will play a key role in month-end close, balance sheet integrity, and financial reporting. This individual will own core reconciliations, support audits, and partner with operations and finance to ensure accurate and timely financials. This is an analytical role and you will gain significant exposure to FP&A functions. The role is well-suited for someone who thrives in a detail-oriented environment and is comfortable working with large data sets in Excel. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations (cash, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intercompany, and other key accounts) Support and actively participate in month-end and quarter-end close processes Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation Maintain and improve Excel-based schedules and reconciliation workbooks Assist with variance analysis and monthly financial reporting Support external audit and internal audit requests, including PBC schedules Partner with AP, AR, and operations to resolve discrepancies and improve processes Help identify opportunities to streamline and strengthen accounting controls and procedures Assist with ad hoc projects as the company scales (system improvements, process documentation, reporting enhancements) Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 4-7+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong balance sheet reconciliation experience (ownership, not just review) Advanced Excel skills , including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and large data set analysis Solid understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes Experience working in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment Strong documentation, organizational, and follow-up skills Preferred Qualifications Public accounting and/or mid-sized corporate accounting background Experience supporting audits and interacting with external auditors Exposure to ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar) Experience in a regulated, technical, or product-based industry a plus What Success Looks Like Clean, well-supported balance sheet reconciliations Consistent, timely close cycles Strong Excel models and schedules that can be relied on by the broader finance team The ability to operate independently while collaborating cross-functionally
