You'll step into an established accounting environment with documented procedures, reconciled accounts, organized records, and a structured month-end close process. This is not a bookkeeping cleanup project — you'll be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our financial statements and providing accurate, timely financial reporting to executive leadership and external stakeholders. About Backpack Healthcare Backpack Healthcare is a school-based pediatric behavioral health company providing therapy and psychiatry services across multiple states. As our Senior Accountant, you'll play an important behind-the-scenes role in helping ensure our financial operations remain accurate, efficient, and well-supported as we continue to grow. What You'll Do You'll independently manage our recurring accounting and month-end close responsibilities, including: Own the monthly close process from start to finish Review and code daily bank and credit card transactions in QuickBooks Online Record semimonthly payroll journal entries based on payroll provider reports Prepare and record journal entries, accruals, and other accounting adjustments Complete balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules Review financial activity for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate accounting treatment Prepare monthly Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows Maintain accounting workpapers and close documentation Support year-end audit requests and schedules Occasionally review new grants, contracts, or funding agreements to determine appropriate accounting treatment and reporting requirements Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and increase efficiency What Your Schedule Looks Like This role is designed to provide maximum flexibility with a predictable monthly scope of work. Daily:

Brief transaction review and sync in QuickBooks Online Twice monthly: Payroll journal entries

Month-end:

Monthly close and financial reporting The monthly close should be completed within the first week of the following month , but you'll have flexibility in how you manage those hours. Evening and weekend work is completely acceptable when it fits your schedule. As you become familiar with our systems and processes, we anticipate the close becoming increasingly efficient.
