full-time Senior Accountant (Direct Hire) Washington, DC (Hybrid) About the Organization Our client is a well-established national nonprofit public health organization focused on improving the health of young people. It is known for award-winning national campaigns, and its work also includes research, policy studies, community and youth engagement programs, and digital health products. The organization has an annual budget of about $50M and a mission-driven, collaborative culture. The Role Our client is hiring a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team, reporting to the Controller and CFO. The team is small and close-knit. You'll have real ownership of the general ledger and month-end close, and you'll be a trusted partner to leadership. This is a great fit for someone who wants a stable, long-term home with room to grow over time.

Schedule:

Hybrid. In-office Tuesday through Thursday, remote

Monday and Friday Salary:

$90,000-$100k Responsibilities Maintain the general ledger and make sure financial records are accurate and complete Lead or support the month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and allocations Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations Account for restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and contributions in line with nonprofit GAAP Prepare monthly financial statements and variance analysis for the Controller and CFO Support the annual audit and Form 990 preparation, including schedules and auditor requests Reconcile payroll and benefits activity processed through ADP Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules Find and implement process improvements and strengthen internal controls Take on special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 3-5 years of accounting experience, with a strong background in nonprofit G/L and month-end close Solid knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including fund and grant accounting Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliations) Experience with Acumatica and ADP is a plus. Candidates with Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Workday, or similar ERP experience are also encouraged to apply Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet deadlines Collaborative team player who communicates well and works well with others Benefits Free medical and dental coverage for employees, with 75% covered for families 10% employer 401(k) contribution, made even if you don't enroll $180/month transportation reimbursement $45/month health and wellness reimbursement (gym memberships and more) $10,000 annual education allowance Catered lunches
