Science | Service | Sustainability The Senior Accountant / Fiscal Analyst position is responsible for the financial implementation and administration of a specified portfolio of federal grants, earned income, and restricted funds. The role involves performing complex and diverse accounting and financial management functions essential to the planning, development, maintenance, and closeout of related accounts. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies, preparing accurate financial reports, and coordinating with internal departments and external agencies to support programmatic and fiscal objectives.
Job Duties:
Advise internal stakeholders on fiscal policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. The incumbent serves as a key resource for interpreting financial guidelines and resolving budgetary issues, often coordinating across departments to ensure clarity and compliance. This role also includes providing technical support to help staff access and understand relevant financial data, fostering informed decision-making and efficient use of agency resources. Prepare and distribute a range of financial reports, including personnel service and operating cost projections, revenue forecasts, and specialized cost allocation summaries. The incumbent develops and maintains databases and queries to support both end-user and agency-level reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and timely access to fiscal information. Provide technical and logistical support for the acquisition and compilation of data used in grant applications and revenue contracts. Responsibilities include downloading federal funding opportunities, completing required forms and attachments, and assisting with submission processes. The incumbent ensures full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and private funding requirements throughout the development cycle. Create and coordinate budget entries to ensure appropriate funding levels across grants and earned funds. The incumbent monitors account status, reconciles budget activity, and collaborates with internal teams to maintain fiscal integrity and alignment with programmatic goals. Performs other relevant duties, as needed A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field and professional experience in a related area, such as accounting, auditing, finance, or banking. Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Additional Requirements:
Must be highly proficient in the use of spreadsheet (MS EXCEL) and database applications (MS ACCESS). Must have the ability to adapt work processes using information technologies. Must be able to demonstrate excellent planning and organizational skills. Must be able to transfer and acquire data through a wide range of Agency networks. Must have extensive knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding governmental accounting and grants administration. Must be able to analyze and interpret complex and sometimes abstract data. Remote Work:
