This role oversees a small team of accounting professionals, manages the monthly and annual close cycles, ensures vendors, including overseas vendors are paid accurately and on time and partners closely with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting expertise, strong leadership capability, and a passion for building efficient financial operations with solid and dependable internal controls.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Oversee the full general ledger, accounts payable, financial reporting structure, and month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of accounting staff, setting annual goals and monitoring performance and professional growth.
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, AP batches, wire/ACH transactions, including a significant number of international wires in multiple currencies and other key financial activities to maintain strong internal controls.
• Lead annual external financial audit preparation and respond to auditor and executive leadership inquiries regarding financial results and reporting.
• Drive process improvements, implement new procedures, and enhance accounting systems to increase efficiency and accuracy across the finance function.
• Oversee membership-related financial activity, sponsorship revenue recognition processes, and other specialized accounting functions as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and

ABILITIES

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA or CPA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a management role leading a team.
• Strong expertise with system administration of a cloud-based, multi-entity accounting systems (recent deep NetSuite experience highly valued).
• Experience with international transactions and intercompany subsidiary accounting.
• Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in an environment with multiple projects and priorities, sometimes with tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and lead a high-performing accounting team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with executive leadership.
