Job Description

Job DescriptionJob Description We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax & Accounting Lead to join our firm in a flexible year-round role. This position is part-time outside of tax season, with a primary focus on client accounting, QuickBooks, reconciliations, month-end close, and oversight of bookkeeping work. During tax season, the role transitions to full-time and focuses primarily on the preparation of individual and business tax returns, along with oversight of tax workflow. This is a key role for someone who can take ownership of work, help manage day-to-day production, and reduce partner involvement in routine accounting and tax workflow. The right candidate will be comfortable both doing the work and overseeing a tax preparer and a bookkeeper.
Responsibilities:
Manage client accounting and bookkeeping workflow in QuickBooks Perform and review bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations Handle month-end and year-end close work Prepare journal entries and financial reports Prepare individual and business tax returns during tax season Review bookkeeping and tax preparation work for accuracy and completeness Oversee and help coordinate the workflow of a tax preparer and a bookkeeper Help ensure deadlines are met during monthly close and tax season Communicate with clients to gather information, resolve issues, and keep projects moving Assist with tax notices, year-end adjustments, and related accounting or tax projects as needed
Qualifications:
3-5 years of public accounting experience required CPA or CPA track preferred Strong QuickBooks experience required Strong understanding of month-end close Experience preparing individual and business tax returns Ability to review work, delegate effectively, and keep staff workflow on track Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Strong communication skills and ability to work independently Local candidates in the Trumbull/Shelton, CT area or nearby preferred
Schedule:
