This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to play an important role in the financial strength and continued success of a growing, member-focused credit union. As a Senior Accountant, you'll work closely with Finance leadership and teams across Achieva, bringing your accounting expertise to financial reporting, regulatory requirements, analysis, and process improvement. This role offers remote work flexibility, but candidates must live within reasonable traveling distance of Dunedin, Florida and be available to come onsite for meetings and team collaboration as needed. Candidates outside the area who are unable to travel to Dunedin as needed will not be considered. What You'll Do In this
Role:
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and prepare financial analyses, schedules, and management reports.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting, including the NCUA Call Report and FR2900, and support internal and external audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, inventories, additions, disposals, and transfers.
  • Partner across the organization to resolve accounting-related issues and support business initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls, improve reporting accuracy, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Participate in system implementations, process improvements, special projects, and strategic initiatives.
  • Serve as a resource to the Accounting team through collaboration, problem-solving, cross-training, and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and other accounting functions as needed. What You'll Bring To be considered for this position, you'll need:
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, fixed asset management, and month-end close activities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and financial data analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • An understanding of credit union or banking regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
