We are helping a client in the manufacturing industry hire an experienced Staff Accountant to join their accounting and finance team. The Staff Accountant will support the financial integrity of the organization through accurate accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, inventory and fixed asset accounting, and audit support. This position plays an important role in month-end close activities, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting internal controls, and providing financial information to operational and accounting leadership. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, experience working in a manufacturing environment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced organization.
What you will be doing:
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies. Prepare and post journal entries as part of the month-end close process. Support the Accounting Division Manager and Accounting Supervisor with financial reporting and accounting activities. Assist with analysis of variances between standard and actual production costs. Reconcile monthly physical inventory counts to general ledger balances and assist with managing inventory obsolescence reserves. Reconcile employee benefit invoices to ensure deductions and related expenses are accurately recorded. Provide backup support for accounts payable posting and billing functions. Track capital expenditures and maintain accurate fixed asset records. Manage fixed asset depreciation and assist with audits of plant equipment and asset records. Prepare supporting documentation for internal and external audits. Prepare intercompany offset documentation and reconciliations. Support accounting requests from branch locations. Calculate and process sales commissions. Assist with additional accounting and finance projects as needed.
What you will be doing:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Minimum of 3 years of accounting or finance experience. Strong understanding of general accounting principles, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities. Experience with inventory, cost accounting, or manufacturing accounting preferred. Knowledge of sales and use tax. Experience with NetSuite is a plus. Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including:
VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
Pivot Tables Financial data analysis and reconciliation Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with accounting and operational teams. High level of confidentiality, integrity, and attention to detail. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership of responsibilities. Ability to work effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and across multiple departments. Preferred Experience Candidates with experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment will be particularly well suited for this position. Experience with any of the following is beneficial: Manufacturing or cost accounting Standard versus actual cost variance analysis Inventory reconciliation and reserves Fixed asset accounting Capital expenditure tracking Audit preparation Multi-location or branch accounting ERP-based accounting systems Physical Requirements This position primarily involves office-based work and regular computer use. The employee must be able to: Sit and work at a computer for extended periods. Perform frequent keyboarding and repetitive computer-based tasks. Communicate effectively through verbal and written methods. Read, review, and interpret financial information, reports, and instructions. Occasionally stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 10 pounds. Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
