Non-exempt We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team at Northstar Innovations. Northstar Innovations provides operational support for the corporate group underneath Northstar Financial Group Inc., which includes Mainstreet Community Bank, Northstar Bank and West Michigan Community Bank. Position Summary The Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Specific Job Functions & Responsibilities Prepare monthly general ledger tie out items for NFGI and all subsidiaries including NSB as well as WMCB Perform daily balancing and/or back up this function for both banks General Ledger Tie Outs for Accruals, Prepayments, Securities, Funding, Ancillary, and Internal DDA accounts Assist in preparation and review of the call report Prepare and assist with daily cash balance and management Update the fixed asset software and work with depreciation reports Handle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable responsibilities Provide back up for the Profitstar program maintenance, budgeting, and report generation Assist with report generation from the Cognos software for bank personnel Gather and prepare information for Board Packets Follow federal regulations and related internal procedure Must complete all required annual training Follow required federal and state regulations and related internal policies and procedures Required Skills/Abilities Ability to work independently Proper judgement and decision-making skills Maintains confidentiality Respect for customers, supervisor, and coworkers Effective use of various computer applications including Microsoft Office Ability to accept and follow instructions Compliance with rules and regulations Adherence to security procedures Education/Experience Required A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Strong computer and communication skills and an ability to multi-task, coordinate and prioritize projects are also required.
