Hybrid (Office & Work from Home) General Job Description The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, processing daily accounting transactions, and ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger. This role supports the Senior Accountant and management by performing foundational accounting tasks, reconciling accounts, and assisting in the preparation of timely financial reports. Duties & Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries for month-end close, including accruals, deferrals, and reclassifications to ensure accurate financial reporting. Perform detailed account reconciliations (bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts) and investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards. Maintain and analyze general ledger activity, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation of all transactions. Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including reviewing transactions, resolving issues, and ensuring proper cutoff of transactions. Perform variance analysis on financial results and provide explanations for fluctuations compared to budget, forecast, and prior periods. Assist with fixed asset accounting, including tracking additions, disposals, and maintaining depreciation schedules. Contribute to the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are accurate. Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and applicable financial regulations. Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to support financial reporting and operational needs. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
Experience:
1-3 years of accounting experience (entry-level candidates with strong internships considered).
Technical Skills:
Solid understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables).
