Position:
Staff Accountant (Hybrid Remote) The Staff Accountant provides fiscal and operational support to Northern Jersey operations. Applies sound business practices to ensure the efficient and professional functioning of the division's programs. Advises the Director of Finance on financial and operational matters in accordance with Volunteers of America's policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting and one year of relevant experience. Knowledge of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and FASB standards is required. This employee must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize work and perform duties with a high level of accuracy is required. S/he will also have a collaborative work style and excellent interpersonal skills. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite with strong Excel skills is required.
Staff Accountant Principal Responsibilities:
Enter purchase orders, invoices, and payment batches into Microsoft Business Central. Ensure entries are accurately coded and supported for payment. Validate goods and services are received for reconciliation and payment to vendors. Monitor accounts payable entries to ensure payments are made timely and accurately. Handle vendor and employee inquiries, including researching and resolving accounts payable issues. Review, record, and reconcile company credit card activity. Prepare grant billings in accordance with funder requirements and submission deadlines. Perform analyses and reconciliations to ensure accurate billing, collections, and financial reporting. Prepare standard journal entries for daily business transactions and month-end closing. Adhere to the monthly general ledger close calendar to allow for appropriate review by the Finance Director. Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reporting and analysis and ad hoc reports. Analyze and reconcile various general ledger and sub-ledger transactions and account balances monthly to ensure accurate financial reporting. Participate in the fiscal year-end and internal audit processes and funder monitoring engagements. Maintain knowledge and understanding of Volunteers of America-Greater York policies and procedures and funders' contract reimbursement manuals and guidance to promote compliance with policies, procedures and regulations. Provide support on financial initiatives and projects, and perform other related duties as required.
