Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills, a thorough understanding of financial concepts, and experience with various accounting software systems. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial health of our organization while developing your expertise in both corporate and governmental accounting. Duties Prepare and record journal entries, ensuring accuracy in debits and credits across the general ledger. Perform account reconciliations, including balance sheet and bank account reconciliations, to verify data integrity. Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking. Support month-end and year-end closing activities in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Maintain detailed records of financial transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or Workday. Conduct data entry tasks with precision, utilizing 10 key typing skills and double-entry bookkeeping practices. Collaborate on audits by providing necessary documentation related to financial statements and internal controls. Assist in budgeting processes, expense analysis, and financial reporting to support organizational decision-making. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; relevant certifications are a plus. Proven experience in corporate accounting or governmental accounting environments. Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or UltiPro; experience with Workday or Ceridian is advantageous. Knowledge of GAAP standards and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance requirements. Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, and account analysis. Experience with payroll management systems such as ADP or Paychex; knowledge of payroll processing is preferred. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed account analysis and reconciliation tasks accurately. Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments and support internal controls initiatives.
