Job Description
Your work may include:
Managing bookkeeping for multiple small business clients Completing monthly bank and credit card reconciliations Preparing and reviewing Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports Identifying and correcting bookkeeping discrepancies Posting journal entries and making necessary bookkeeping adjustments Preparing and/or assisting with Washington State DOR excise tax filings Preparing and assisting with local B&O tax filings Helping clients understand their bookkeeping and tax-related questions Assisting with year-end bookkeeping and tax preparation Pulling and organizing documentation for tax returns Assisting with payroll and payroll-related accounting Reviewing payroll transactions and accounts Researching accounting or tax questions when the answer isn't immediately obvious Taking on special projects and cleanup work as they arise Communicating directly with clients by email, phone, and occasionally in person Helping identify issues before they become bigger problems Experience 3+ years of professional accounting or bookkeeping experience Experience assisting a tax prepare with tax documents and intake General tax documentation experience Strong understanding of debits, credits, and basic accounting principles Experience with QuickBooks Online Experience with bank and credit card reconciliations Ability to prepare and understand financial statements Experience working with multiple clients, accounts, or deadlines Strong understanding of Washington State DOR excise tax filings and B&O tax Comfortable communicating directly with clients Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask questions Strong organizational skills and follow-through Comfortable investigating discrepancies rather than simply working around them Strongly Preferred Public accounting or client-service accounting experience Tax preparation experience or experience assisting with tax returns Washington payroll experience Gusto experience QuickBooks Desktop experience Experience with S Corporations and/or partnerships Experience working with contractors, beauty/spa businesses, professional services, or other small businesses Experience answering client tax/accounting questions Experience with Washington State sales/use tax Payroll Experience Is a Bonus Payroll experience isn't required if you're otherwise a strong accountant, but we would love to find someone who already understands payroll accounting and Washington-specific payroll requirements. This position can develop into greater responsibility in bookkeeping, tax, payroll, client advisory, review work, or team leadership depending on your strengths and interests. You don't need to know everything on day 1. We do expect you to be curious, willing to learn, and capable of taking what you learn and applying it independently. Location Yelm & Graham, Washington This is a local position serving our growing client base throughout Western Washington. Compensation $52,000 - 72,000 annually , depending on experience and qualifications. We're willing to pay for the right person. If you bring strong bookkeeping, tax, Washington DOR, and client-service experience, we'd rather have a conversation about what you're looking for than eliminate a great candidate over a predetermined salary range.
