Job Title:
Staff Accountant – (Hybrid)
Location:
Grand Rapids, MI Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the accounting team by performing a variety of tasks, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
Account Reconciliation:
Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
General Ledger Maintenance:
Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
Accounts Payable/Receivable:
Process invoices, manage accounts payable and receivable, and ensure timely payments and collections.
Month-End Close:
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and adjustments.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Provide support in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances, and providing insights to management.
Audit Support:
Assist in internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
Ad Hoc Reporting:
Prepare various ad hoc financial reports as required by management.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
2-9 years of experience in accounting or a related field is preferred. Experience in a similar role in Grand Rapids, MI, is a plus.
Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Knowledge of local tax regulations and compliance requirements specific to Grand Rapids, MI.
Working Conditions:
This position typically operates in a professional office environment in Grand Rapids, MI. May require occasional overtime, especially during month-end or year-end closing periods.
Salary Range:
$50,000 – $75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
