Job Summary An established home furnishings company is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant or Senior Bookkeeper for its Lancaster, South Carolina location. The position is open to candidates throughout the greater Charlotte area who are comfortable traveling to the company's Lancaster, South Carolina facility according to the agreed-upon hybrid schedule This is a full-time hybrid position combining remote work with scheduled onsite responsibilities in Lancaster. The successful candidate will report directly to and work closely with the company's Chief Financial Officer while coordinating with local management, warehouse personnel, vendors, and customers. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting activities. Handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, deposits, expenses, and journal entries. Reconcile bank, credit card, customer, vendor, and general ledger accounts. Assist the CFO with month-end and year-end closing. Prepare monthly financial and operational reports. Maintain supporting documentation, including invoices, purchase orders, bills of lading, and proofs of delivery. Assist with inventory accounting and reconcile information between accounting and warehouse systems. Monitor outstanding receivables and help resolve accounting discrepancies. Support the CFO with account analysis, reporting, and special projects. Help improve accounting procedures, documentation, and internal controls. Qualifications Three or more years of bookkeeping, staff accounting, or similar accounting experience. Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and month-end closing. Experience with QuickBooks Online is strongly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while communicating regularly with the CFO. Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally. Ability to work onsite in Lancaster according to an agreed-upon hybrid schedule. Preferred Experience Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Experience in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, textile, or home furnishings environment. Familiarity with inventory or warehouse-management systems. Experience preparing reports for senior management. Work Arrangement This is a full-time hybrid position with scheduled onsite work in Lancaster. Additional onsite availability may occasionally be needed during training, month-end closing, or special projects. The specific hybrid schedule will be discussed during the interview process.
