Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our financial team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing complex tax compliance processes, preparing accurate tax returns, and ensuring adherence to all relevant tax laws and regulations. Duties Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for corporations, individuals, trusts, and estates with precision and attention to detail. Conduct thorough tax research on current laws such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), securities law, and tax law to ensure compliance and identify planning opportunities. Assist in estate planning activities by advising on wills, trusts, and estate law to optimize asset transfer strategies. Support internal audits related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance and implement necessary controls for regulatory adherence. Analyze financial statements and general ledger accounts to reconcile discrepancies through detailed account analysis and double entry bookkeeping. Collaborate with clients to communicate complex tax concepts clearly and provide strategic advice on tax reporting and planning. Utilize accounting software such as Quicken or other financial software tools for accurate data entry, analysis, and reporting. Experience Proven experience in public accounting or corporate tax accounting with a focus on tax compliance, tax return preparation, and financial analysis. Strong understanding of accounting principles such as GAAP, regulatory compliance accounting, and technical accounting standards. Demonstrated expertise in estate planning, wills, trusts & estate law, securities law, and investment-related taxation. Familiarity with auditing procedures and SOX compliance processes is highly desirable. Proficiency with accounting software including Quicken or similar platforms; experience with financial software used for general ledger reconciliation is preferred. Excellent analysis skills with the ability to perform detailed account reconciliation and financial report writing. Effective client communication skills to explain complex tax issues clearly while providing exceptional service.
