Duties Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Support tax preparation activities by gathering data related to tax accounting, estate planning, and regulatory reporting requirements. Perform account reconciliation tasks such as general ledger reconciliation, bank statement matching, and accounts payable verification. Help maintain accurate records using accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms. Contribute to auditing processes by compiling documentation related to internal controls and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance. Support analysis of financial concepts including asset management, mergers & acquisitions, private equity transactions, and investment activities. Assist with budgeting processes and financial report writing to facilitate strategic decision-making. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; relevant coursework or internships in public accounting or non-profit accounting is a plus. Demonstrated tax experience or familiarity with tax concepts such as Wills, trusts & estate law; estate planning; and tax law compliance. Knowledge of GAAP standards and technical accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and balance sheet reconciliation. Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or similar platforms; proficiency in financial software is highly desirable. Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret financial reports and perform account analysis effectively. Familiarity with securities law, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), Mergers & Acquisitions processes, and regulatory reporting requirements is advantageous. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks such as payroll processing, accounts payable management, and general ledger reconciliation simultaneously. Effective communication skills for preparing clear financial reports and collaborating across teams involved in financial planning and analysis.
