Staff Accountant
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily accounting operations across the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
- Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile account activity, and maintain accurate financial records for ongoing business operations.
- Process payroll accurately and support related accounting tasks, with close attention to labor tracking and payroll-driven costs.
- Complete bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to help ensure reliable cash reporting.
- Apply job costing principles to track project-related expenses and support financial visibility within a construction environment.
- Use Sage 300 to record transactions, maintain accounting data, and generate information needed for routine reporting.
- Assist with corporate and sales tax activities, including supporting filings, documentation, and compliance requirements.
- Help address outstanding payroll tax reporting needs and support timely completion of required submissions. Requirements
- Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role with hands-on responsibility for day-to-day financial transactions.
- Background in construction accounting, including familiarity with project cost tracking and job costing methods.
- Proficiency with Sage 300 in an accounting environment.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing and the financial impact of payroll within a labor-intensive business.
- Practical experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger activity, and bank reconciliations.
- Ability to prepare journal entries and support accurate month-to-month financial recordkeeping.
- Familiarity with corporate tax and sales tax responsibilities, including reporting support and related documentation.
