Chief Financial Officer Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Cost / General Accountant to join a growing accounting team in Greer, South Carolina. This position combines general accounting responsibilities with a strong focus on job costing, project accounting, and financial systems. The Cost / General Accountant will manage the daily and monthly accounting activity that supports accurate financial reporting, including transaction coding, account reconciliations, job setup, budget maintenance, cost reporting, and work-in-progress schedules. This position works directly with the CFO and serves as a key user of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and ProjectPro. Key Responsibilities Set up new jobs, cost codes, and project budgets in Business Central and ProjectPro. Update project budgets as change orders and scope changes are approved. Review labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and other project costs for proper coding. Prepare monthly job-cost reports, including cost-to-date and estimate-to-complete information. Support preparation of work-in-progress schedules and over/under billing calculations. Investigate cost variances and coding errors with project managers and field supervisors. Reconcile field production information and equipment hours to costs recorded within the ERP system. Maintain accurate cost and revenue records across multiple legal entities. Prepare intercompany entries and allocations. Complete account reconciliations, journal entries, and other month-end closing responsibilities. Prepare financial schedules and supporting documentation for the outsourced controller, external accountants, auditors, sureties, and lenders. Maintain vendor, job, dimension, cost-category, and approval-routing master data. Serve as the primary accounting resource for day-to-day system questions. Build and maintain recurring financial reports and reconciliations. Assist with the continued development of Power BI reporting. Identify accounting and operational process breakdowns and implement lasting improvements. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field. Three to five years of relevant accounting experience. Demonstrated experience with job costing, project accounting, or manufacturing cost accounting. Working knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting and work-in-progress schedules. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience working directly within an ERP system. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to communicate effectively with accounting, project management, and field operations teams. High attention to detail and a commitment to accurate financial reporting. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and ProjectPro. Experience with Power BI or a similar reporting platform. Background in construction, heavy civil, utilities, industrial services, or project-based accounting. Experience preparing information for financial audits, bank reviews, lenders, or surety providers. Experience working with multiple legal entities and intercompany transactions.
