Staff Accountant$55,000 - $65,000 annuallyCharleston, SCAbout the Job As a Staff Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the organization's financial operations and ensuring the accuracy of accounting records across multiple business units. You will partner with finance and operational teams to maintain financial integrity, support reporting processes, and contribute to efficient month-end close activities. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing financial analysis, compliance, and operational support. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $55,000 - $65,000 annually. Individual compensation is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package. Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries and assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger activity, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner. Prepare financial statements, supporting schedules, and management reports. Monitor cash balances and support day-to-day treasury and cash management activities. Assist with accounts payable functions, including invoice review, vendor reconciliations, and payment processing. Maintain records related to business licenses, permits, and property tax filings, ensuring timely renewals and compliance. Review and support the preparation of sales, occupancy, and other indirect tax filings. Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate accounting issues and improve financial processes. Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and related documentation. Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations experience. Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports. Experience working with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced proficiency in Excel. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications Experience in hospitality, restaurant, retail, lodging, or other multi-location operating environments. Knowledge of month-end close processes and financial statement preparation. Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar ERP platforms. Familiarity with sales tax, occupancy tax, business licensing, and property tax compliance. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across departments. Compensation and Benefits Base salary range of $55,000 - $65,000 annually.
