Full-time, Salary Exempt, 12-months, Benefits Eligible LeMoyne-Owen College is looking for an experienced staff accountant who is well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail. Day-to-day activities will be executed with guidance and direction from accounting management relative to overall college goals and objectives to be achieved. The exercise of sound accounting principles and good judgment is a must.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Reconciling grants and bank statements Preparing and analyzing general ledger account reconciliations Verifying the accuracy of data Identifying, reporting and correcting errors timely Organizing and updating financial records Supporting month-end and year-end close process Preparing documents for external auditors Assisting with accounting projects as assigned Other duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 2-3
years of experience as an accountant BS degree in accounting Microsoft Excel experience Great Plains and/or Colleague experience preferredKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must be efficient and demonstrate effective analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail Must demonstrate understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principlesWORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, use hands to handle, or feel to talk and to hear. The employee, frequently, is required to walk, reach with hands and arms to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
