In your role as an Accountant III on the Accounting Operations Support and Oversight team, you'll become a specialist on the Warrant Distribution team. You'll perform accounting tasks and in time serve as a functional specialist on the team. You'll receive, track, and distribute payroll and non-payroll warrants. You'll find creative solutions to share with the team and beyond. You'll use tools provided by the agency, the State Comptroller, State Treasury, and the Internal Revenue Service to make decisions handling negotiable instruments. As a first line contact, you'll help external and internal customers understand accounting rules and regulations. You'll do research, resolve discrepancies, respond to questions, and overall provide excellent customer service to vendors and employees. In this position, you'll have a unique opportunity to learn multiple functions. You'll learn to document processes and use that documentation to guide others in the use of software applications. This critical position is responsible for all payroll and non-payroll processing of warrants, payments issued to vendors, providers, and employees according to the rules and regulations established by the State Legislature, Comptroller and Internal Revenue Service. This position is instrumental in ensuring that all warrants are issued timely and accurately to avoid potential delays in the distribution of warrants. You'll learn to respond to customer needs and to create and share reports. Essential Job Functions (EJFs): Researches, corrects or returns rejected/error transactions through automated systems using knowledge of fundamental procedures. (20%) Audits records for accuracy and compliance with standards and procedures. (20%) Develops, assists and interprets policies, procedures, rules, regulations or standards to others (for example staff, individuals, vendors). (30%) Communicates on a complex level with others to provide, exchange, verify information, answer inquiries, address issues or resolve problems or complaints. (10%) Provides intermediate level technical assistance to others on policies, procedures, rules, regulations, standards or requirements. (10%) Prepare moderately complex ongoing or special narrative or statistical reports. (10%) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): 1. knowledge of accounting, either through education or experience. 2. Knowledge of automated accounting systems. 3. Ability to review/audit reports, entries and other data. 4. Ability to process accounting information. 5. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. 6. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office applications.Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications:

1. Excellent written communications as observed by detail and completeness of information provided on the state application. 2. Experience with accounting principles and procedures; preference for governmental accounting experience. 3. Experience with accounting software. 4. Experience with Microsoft office applications. 5.
