Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to support manufacturing operations in Corpus Christi, Texas. This role focuses on delivering accurate inventory valuation, reliable cost reporting, and meaningful analysis that helps improve financial and operational performance. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in manufacturing accounting, standard costing, and cross-functional collaboration with production, engineering, purchasing, and warehouse teams.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee product costing activities to ensure inventory values, unit costs, and gross margin data remain accurate and dependable.
- Develop, update, and monitor standard costs, including labor and overhead rates, to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Review bills of materials, routings, and job-related data to strengthen cost accuracy across manufacturing processes.
- Analyze production, inventory, and purchase price variances, then communicate findings and recommendations to plant leadership.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close support related to inventory and production transactions.
- Lead cycle count and physical inventory coordination, investigate discrepancies, and help resolve control issues affecting stock accuracy.
- Produce recurring financial and operational reports, presentations, and profitability analyses covering price, cost, volume, and mix performance.
- Partner with manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, and warehouse teams to address costing questions, improve inventory controls, and identify obsolete stock.
- Support testing and validation of costing-related system updates or process changes to maintain reporting integrity.
