Description We are looking for an experienced interim Controller to provide senior-level accounting leadership for a property management organization in Texas. This contract opportunity has the potential to become permanent and will oversee financial accuracy, reporting consistency, and sound accounting practices across residential and commercial portfolios. The role partners closely with finance leadership, property operations, and external accounting resources to strengthen reporting quality, support scalable processes, and maintain strong financial controls. This is a 2-month contract position 100% ONSITE in Dallas, Texas 75248 Must have Yardi experience Interim Controller with Commercial and multifamily property management and development experience (contract position):

Responsibilities:

• Lead the monthly review of portfolio financial statements to confirm reports are accurate, complete, and delivered on schedule.
• Direct general ledger oversight across multiple properties, ensuring transactions are coded correctly and recorded in the proper accounting period.
• Manage the month-end close cycle, including review of journal entries, accruals, amortization activity, allocations, and reconciliations.
• Maintain a structured close calendar and coordinate with internal staff and external accounting partners to keep deadlines on track.
• Monitor balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies through timely reconciliations and follow-up analysis.
• Strengthen relationships with outsourced accounting providers by setting expectations, reviewing deliverables, and promoting consistent accounting standards.
• Support the development and maintenance of internal controls that protect reporting integrity and reinforce compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with finance leadership, accounting staff, and property management teams on reporting issues, process improvements, and cross-portfolio financial consistency.
• Contribute to special projects such as audit preparation, lender reporting, due diligence support, financial analysis, modeling, and workflow enhancements. Must have Yardi experience Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including controllership or senior accounting leadership responsibility.
• Strong command of accrual-based accounting, financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger management.
• Background in residential and/or commercial property accounting is strongly preferred.
• Experience working in fast-paced, multi-entity or multi-property environments with competing deadlines.
• Knowledge of internal controls, month-end close management, and financial statement review processes.
• Proficiency with Yardi Voyager or a similar property management accounting platform is required.
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, exercise sound judgment, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
