Staff Accountant - Onsite, Irving TX A growing organization in the construction industry is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This position will play an important role in the monthly close process and ongoing accounting operations, with exposure to multiple entities The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to take ownership of their work. This is a great opportunity for an accountant looking to build upon their foundation in general ledger accounting while gaining additional exposure to financial reporting, reconciliations, and multi-entity accountin g. What You'll DoGeneral Accounting & Month-End Cl osePrepare, review, and post journal entries and recurring entries to the general ledg er.Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activiti es.
Maintain accurate general ledger records and investigate unusual or inconsistent activi ty.
Support intercompany accounting and reconciliations across multiple entiti es.
Review and reconcile various financial transactions and supporting documentati on.
Assist with banking and corporate credit card reconciliatio ns. Reconciliations & Financial Repor tingPrepare and maintain balance sheet account reconciliati ons.
Research and resolve discrepancies between subledgers, bank activity, and the general led ger.
Record and verify daily cash receipts and depos its.
Prepare accounting reports and supporting schedules for internal managem ent.
Assist with monthly and quarterly financial reporting packa ges.
Support external audits by preparing schedules, workpapers, and requested documentat ion. Accounts Payable & Vendor Su pportAssist with accounts payable and cash-related inquiries and discrepancy resolu tion.
Process and review payments in accordance with established cont rols.
Assist with vendor setup, maintenance, and documenta tion.
Review settlement statements and supporting documentation for accu racy.
Maintain organized accounting records in accordance with company poli cies. Process Impro vementIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes and proce dures.
Assist with documenting accounting workflows and con trols.
Partner with other departments to resolve accounting issues and improve acc uracy.
Take on additional accounting projects and responsibilities as n eeded. What We're Look ing ForBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related2+ years of accounting experience with exposure to general ledger acc ountingExperience preparing journal entries and account reconcil iationsStrong understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting pri nciplesExperience working in an ERP or accounting systemStrong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data organ izationAbility to work with multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced envi ronmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detailExcellent communication and organizational skillsAbility to work effectively across departments and take ownership of assigned responsib ilities Nice-to-Have Ex perienceConstruction, Homebuilding, Real Estate, or related industry ex periencePublic accounting ex perienceCPA candidacy or progress toward the CPAExperience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany tran sactionsFamiliarity with construction or homebuilding ERP p latforms Why This Opp ortunity?
