Help us help others: The Staff Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting functions that support the organization's financial operations, including financial reporting, account reconciliations, budgeting, cost accounting, cash management, and regulatory reporting. This position helps ensure accurate financial records, compliance with applicable requirements, and informed decision-making across the agency.
You will get to:
Prepare required monthly journal entries on a prompt basis to record accruals and reclass transactions. Maintain and reconcile various balance sheet accounts on a prompt basis and ensure their accuracy by preparing all necessary documentation for reconciling journal entries, including recommendations for process improvement. Prepare components of basic Agency financial statements. Gather, confirm, and summarize accounting or statistical data. Maintain allocation tables within the cost accounting system using information such as labor distribution, organization structure, space, and any other statistical data, as necessary. May be required to review and confirm information with operating departments throughout the organization. Prepare and analyze administrative cost and budget reports, including the investigation of budget variances, at various levels such as program, department, division, and activity categories. Prepare miscellaneous invoicing. Research and locate specific transactions. Coordinate reimbursement as necessary. Perform analysis on cost trends and allocations; proposes and implements updates to allocation tables. Crosstrain in a variety of accounting positions and provide backup as required. Complete State of Texas cost reports timely on a quarterly and annual basis. Provide internal and external auditors with consolidated reconciliations, schedules and adjustments, including explanations and answers to questions necessary to complete the annual audit. Investigate any unusual transactions or activities. Coordinate with other HC MHDD departments to resolve inaccuracies. You'll definitely need: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related fields. Minimum 3 years' current experience in accounting with significant exposure to auditing, finance, and budgeting. Minimum 2 years of governmental or non-profit accounting in a medical setting is strongly preferred. Maintain valid Texas state Driver's License and auto insurance. Starting salary of $45,000 annually, with consideration given to relevant experience and qualification.
