Job Description

Overview The Neighborhood Company is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Full-Time Staff Accountant to join our growing team. This position is ideal for someone with 3-5 years of full-charge bookkeeping or accounting experiencewho enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the financial records of multiple homeowners associations, preparing accurate monthly financial statements for Association Boards of Directors, assisting with the annual budget preparation process, and analyzing monthly financial performance against budget. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly and professionally. Experience in community association or property management accounting is preferred but not required. Primary Responsibilities Financial Reporting Prepare accurate monthly financial statements for multiple homeowner's associations. Analyze monthly financial performance by reviewing actual revenues and expenses against the approved budget and identify significant variances. Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger accounts. Complete month-end closing procedures in a timely and accurate manner. Reconciliations Reconcile bank accounts, reserve accounts, investment accounts, and balance sheet accounts monthly. Investigate and resolve discrepancies while maintaining appropriate supporting documentation. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial records. Budgeting & Financial Analysis Assist Community Managers and Boards of Directors with the preparation of annual operating budgets. Review monthly financial results against budget and provide variance explanations as needed. Prepare supporting schedules and financial reports for Board meetings. Accounting Operations Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Perform account analysis and resolve accounting discrepancies. Assist with year-end financial reporting, CPA requests, tax preparation, and annual audits. Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Team Collaboration Work closely with Community Managers and Boards of Directors to answer accounting-related questions and provide financial support. Deliver exceptional internal customer service to team members and Association Boards. Participate in process improvements and assist with special accounting projects as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of full-charge bookkeeping or accounting experience. Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, and journal entries. Experience performing account reconciliations and month-end close procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Experience with CINC Systems or similar accounting software used in the community association or property management industry is preferred. Ability to quickly learn new accounting and property management software platforms. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple associations while meeting monthly financial reporting deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with professionalism. Preferred Qualifications Experience preparing annual operating budgets. Experience analyzing financial statements and budget variances. Experience working with multiple entities or client accounts simultaneously. HOA, condominium, or property management accounting experience is a plus.
Pay:
$48,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
