- The
- Refinery Accounting Internship
- will provide you hands-on experience and will allow you to apply accounting concepts and principles to develop the core competencies needed to succeed in a business environment.
Major Accountabilities in which you may be assigned:
- Assist in the monthly operating expense close process for a refinery.
- Learn to utilize SAP BW and other data reporting tools to analyze financial results and provide information to various stakeholders.
- Assist in other projects typically focused on a detailed aspect of Valero's financial results.
- Learn to format and compile data for internal metrics.
- Follow safety rules and procedures as set forth by the Company.
- Preparation of the following for refineries.
- Operating and Capital expense accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and operating expense forecast.
- Liaison between business services and other groups at headquarters such as Capital Assets, Forecast, Planning & Analysis, Tax, and Information Services.
- Interns may be assigned various different assignments at Valero Headquarters and other projects including potential travel to refinery locations.
Qualifications:
- Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio Headquarters required.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting required.
- Graduation dates of August 2027 through May 2029 required.
- Able to work 40 hours for 12 weeks during Summer 2027 required.
- Overall GPA of 3.0 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills preferred.
