Entry-level to two years of experience Company Overview HD Management is a private investment and administrative services platform based in The Woodlands, Texas. The firm and its affiliated entities invest across real estate, operating businesses, and public and private securities, and provide accounting, treasury management, and financial reporting support to the entities within the platform. HD Management invests its own capital: the firm sources its own transactions, underwrites them internally, and owns the resulting assets and businesses over a long horizon rather than a fixed fund life. The team values integrity, analytical rigor, and discretion. Position Summary The Analyst is the execution engine of the deal team. The role supports the full transaction lifecycle — sourcing, thesis development, underwriting, diligence, and closing — and then continues into the asset management of what the firm acquires. The work is closely analogous to an investment banking or private equity analyst seat, with two differences: the Analyst underwrites for the firm's own balance sheet rather than advising a client, and the engagement does not end at close. The role is built for a candidate who wants transaction repetition early. The Analyst will build the models, run the screens, assemble the diligence record, and produce the materials that support investment decisions, working directly with the Associate and executive leadership. Key Responsibilities Deal Sourcing Screen inbound opportunities, broker materials, teasers, and confidential information memoranda against the firm's investment criteria, and summarize each in a short written screen. Build and maintain target lists, market maps, and owner and intermediary contact databases within defined sectors and geographies. Maintain the pipeline record, including stage, next action, and owner, and prepare the recurring pipeline report for leadership. Support proprietary outreach to owners, operators, brokers, and intermediaries, including research on targets and drafting of initial outreach materials. Thesis Development Conduct market, industry, competitor, and customer research to test and support investment theses. Assemble supporting data on market size, growth, fragmentation, pricing dynamics, regulatory factors, and competitive positioning. Draft sections of investment theses and preliminary investment memoranda for review by the Associate and executive leadership. Transaction Execution Maintain the diligence request list and data room index, and track outstanding items to resolution across accounting, tax, legal, insurance, environmental, and operational workstreams. Support quality of earnings review, working capital analysis, and net working capital peg construction, and reconcile findings back to the model. Assist in preparing the enterprise value to equity value bridge, sources and uses, and closing statement support. Support lender and financing processes, including preparation of materials for credit approval and responses to lender diligence requests. Coordinate with outside counsel, accountants, and other advisors to keep workstreams on schedule, and maintain the closing checklist. Modeling and Analysis Build and maintain operating models, including three-statement models, leveraged buyout models, real estate cash flow models, and returns analyses producing internal rate of return and multiple on invested capital under multiple scenarios. Construct comparable company and precedent transaction analyses and, where applicable, discounted cash flow valuations. Run sensitivity and scenario analysis across entry multiple, leverage, growth, exit multiple, and hold period. Normalize historical financial statements and reconcile management-reported figures to underwriting assumptions, documenting every adjustment. Prepare investment committee exhibits, dashboards, and analytical summaries. Asset Management and Post-Acquisition Operations Track acquired assets and operating businesses against the underwriting model and the value creation plan, and prepare monthly and quarterly variance reporting. Build and maintain the reporting package for each asset, including key performance indicators, covenant compliance, and liquidity position. Support integration and post-close initiatives, including systems implementation, reporting standardization, and process improvement. Assist in preparing materials for lenders, partners, and internal stakeholders on portfolio performance. Develop working proficiency in the firm's business systems, including its enterprise resource planning platform, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and better data. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Real Estate, or a related field. Zero to two years of experience in investment banking, transaction advisory, private equity, corporate development, commercial real estate, valuation, or audit. Exceptional candidates directly out of an undergraduate program will be considered. Demonstrated financial modeling ability in Microsoft Excel, including construction of an integrated three-statement or property-level cash flow model without a template. Working command of accounting fundamentals and the relationships among the three financial statements. Strong written communication; able to reduce a complex analysis to a clear one-page summary. High attention to detail, strong organizational discipline, and the judgment to flag rather than paper over an inconsistency. Discretion in handling confidential transaction and family information. Preferred Prior deal experience in the lower middle market. Exposure to real estate underwriting, industrial or distribution businesses, or asset-based lending structures. Familiarity with NetSuite or a comparable enterprise resource planning platform. Progress toward the CFA or CPA designation. Work Environment and Benefits HD Management offers a collaborative, low-bureaucracy environment with direct and sustained exposure to executive leadership. Because the firm owns what it buys, the team follows each transaction from sourcing through ownership rather than handing it off at close. The firm provides competitive compensation, paid time off, and professional development support. How to Apply Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter outlining how their experience aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications described above. Qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview. Equal Opportunity HD Management is an equal-opportunity employer. We encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply.
