Job Summary Rig Runner is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to join our corporate accounting team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position plays a key role in producing accurate, consistent financial data, reports, and reconciliations that support sound business decision-making. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong foundation in GAAP, excellent organizational skills, and a genuine interest in the transportation and logistics industry. Key Responsibilities Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing and posting journal entries in accordance with GAAP. Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner. Prepare and complete bank reconciliations across multiple accounts, investigating and clearing outstanding items. Support the preparation of accurate and timely internal financial reports and management schedules. Assist with annual financial statement audits, including preparing supporting schedules and responding to auditor requests. Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, prepaid expense schedules, and accrual entries. Analyze general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policy. Assist with the preparation of sales, use, and other regulatory tax filings as needed. Collaborate cross-functionally with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Operations teams to resolve accounting discrepancies. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiency, and assist in implementing process improvements. Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation and support records for all assigned accounts. Perform other accounting duties and special projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager or Controller. Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited university is required. 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience required. Working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas) required. Experience with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar) preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Experience in the transportation, logistics, or trucking industry is a plus but not required. CPA candidate or progress toward CPA licensure is a plus.
