Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper -

Small Tax FirmOverview:

Our small, client-focused tax firm is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Staff Accountant or Bookkeeper to support daily accounting functions for approximately 15-20 diverse clients. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable communicating directly with clients to deliver outstanding service.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for a portfolio of small business and individual clients, including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

Prepare and record journal entries; maintain accurate, organized financial records.

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes and schedules.

Support the preparation of financial statements and basic financial analysis for review by senior team members.

Collaborate with tax preparers to gather client data, organize support for tax returns, and assist in basic tax preparation as needed.

Respond to client inquiries promptly and professionally; provide guidance on accounting processes and software.

Help implement and maintain accounting controls and best practices for clients.

Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing (if required by clients).Stay up to date with accounting standards and tax regulations relevant to client needs.
