The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting and executing the day-to-day financial and accounting operations of the organization, with a strong focus on Accounts Receivable . This role is responsible for customer invoicing, collections, cash application, account reconciliations, and supporting month-end close activities. Assist in daily accounting operations including accounts receivable, cash collections, billing, reimbursements, and cash management activities. Assist in the domestic and global accounts receivable transaction processes within CRM, accounting, and learning management systems. Oversee sponsorship billing and collection processes utilizing automated accounting and billing systems. Coordinate and process cash receipts, refunds, wire transfers, ACH payments, and payment reconciliations. Reconcile merchant accounts, payment processors, unidentified payment accounts, and bank transactions. Assist with voucher-related invoices, payments and batch creations. Develop, document, review and improve accounting policies, procedures, and workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy. Participate in system implementation testing, upgrades, integrations, and finance-related process improvement initiatives. Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure effective financial operations and customer support. Perform financial analysis, reporting, reconciliations and ad hoc projects to support business initiatives and decision-making. Identify operational challenges and recommend practical accounting and process solutions. Maintain compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and ethical business practices. The Skills You Need toSucceed:
At least 3 years of accounting or related experience, required. Experience with accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial operations, required. Professional accounting certification (CPA or similar), desirable. Experience with accounting automation and ERP/CRM systems, highly desirable. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, financial operations, and accounting systems. Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.Compensation range:
$34.00 - 38.50/hour (approximately $65,000 - 75,000/year); Compensation is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, internal equity, and geographic location.Similar jobs in Alexandria, VA
