Job Description
Description We are looking for a Sr. Accountant/Analyst to join a team in Virginia on a long-term contract assignment. This position is ideal for someone who is detail oriented and can bridge accounting knowledge with business analysis to improve operational processes, evaluate costs, and support business system enhancements. The role will work closely with stakeholders to assess needs, translate findings into clear documentation, and contribute to solution delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Support cost accounting activities by examining data, validating assumptions, and helping align reporting with business objectives.
- Analyze business and financial workflows to identify improvement opportunities and support informed decision-making.
- Review documentation, gather stakeholder input, and translate business needs into clear functional requirements.
- Perform gap analysis to compare current processes with desired future-state operations and recommend practical solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams during implementation efforts to ensure business requirements are properly understood and executed.
- Prepare organized financial reports, process documents, and analytical summaries for project teams and business leaders. Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with 5+ years of experience in cost or project accounting.
- Strong background in billing and analysis with the ability to gather, interpret, and document requirements effectively.
- Experience conducting document reviews and identifying inconsistencies, risks, or missing information.
- Demonstrated ability to perform gap analysis and convert findings into actionable recommendations to support accounting and reporting teams.
- Familiarity with cost accounting and construction accounting using Yardi or similar ERP.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
