The Position We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join our Property Accounting team. This role is responsible for the full accounting cycle of a real estate property portfolio, including full-charge bookkeeping using both cash and accrual-based methods. You will handle all aspects of property accounting, from AP/AR to month-end close and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance throughout. Key Responsibilities Prepare and analyze monthly general ledger entries and complete financial statement packages for assigned properties. Lead month-end close processes, including recurring and standard journal entries. Perform monthly bank reconciliations and review subsidiary ledger balances. Conduct final review of accounts payable invoices and tenant accounts receivable ledgers. Ensure timely and accurate tax and insurance payments (property, local, PPT, tourist tax, workers' comp, etc.). Monitor budget-to-actual variances and assist with forecasting and financial planning. Review complex legal documents (e.g., leases, loan agreements) for accounting compliance. Support year-end audits and special accounting projects as needed.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or 3 years of relevant accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Solid understanding of accounting principles and month-end close procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, etc.). Experience with Yardi Voyager and Payscan (Procure to Pay). Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks. Strong communication and analytical thinking skills. Ability to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders. Prior experience in 3rd party commercial real estate property accounting is a plus.
