Senior Staff Accountant - Copper Fox Distillery Williamsburg, VA Copper Fox Distillery is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to support our financial operations and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant reporting across all accounting functions. This role is essential to maintaining financial integrity, supporting leadership with actionable insights, and managing compliance responsibilities within a regulated industry. This role report to the Chief Financial Officer on all accounting matters, and may report to other senior managment as needed for special projects. Position Summary The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for performing and overseeing core accounting activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, monthly financial statement preparation, project-based profitability reporting, inventory management, and tax compliance. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, excellent organizational abilities, and preferably experience working with QuickBooks and Square POS systems. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Balance sheet reconciliation — Perform monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness. Monthly financial reporting — Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Project profitability analysis — Develop project-based accounting reports to evaluate profitability across production releases, and operational initiatives. Inventory management — Maintain accurate inventory records, reconcile inventory balances, and support COGS reporting. Sales tax — Manage preparation and filing of state and local sales tax returns. Excise tax filing — Oversee federal and state excise tax reporting in accordance with industry regulations. Payroll Processing - Utilize QB payroll processing for a staff of 10-30 employees. System management — Maintain accounting workflows in QuickBooks and ensure accurate integration of Square POS data. Support annual audit and year end close processes. Assist with process improvements and internal controls. Required Qualifications Associate's or preferably a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. 3-5+ years of professional accounting experience. Proficiency with QuickBooks and familiarity with Square POS . Strong understanding of GAAP and standard accounting practices. Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and work independently. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in manufacturing, production, or beverage/alcohol industries. Knowledge of cost accounting principles. Advanced Excel skills. Experience with tax compliance in regulated industries.
