Experienced GL/Cash Accountant
Job Description
Small & Sons Oil Dist. Co. has been doing business in Auburn, WA for over 60 years. Our company has grown into a corporation focused on people, relationships, flexibility, and diversity. Our family of brands and services has expanded from fuel and oil distribution to on-site fleet fueling systems, commercial truck and part sales, heavy/medium duty truck maintenance and repair as well as our Small Stop convenience stores providing fuel and food to customers throughout Washington and Oregon. As our company continues to grow we are looking for a GL/Cash Accountant to join our team. This position reports directly to the Corporate Controller and will be responsible for full-cycling handling of cash-related accounts.
Role Overview:
The GL/Cash Accountant is responsible for the full-cycle handling of cash-related accounts within the general ledger, including posting, reconciling, and reporting. The role ensures that all cash transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, and aligned with accounting standards, supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Cash Transaction Processing :
Run online banking reports, research daily cash receipts, vendor disbursements, intercompany loans, and other cash-related entries. This position also directs transactions to accounting for process treatment for proper subledger and general ledger reporting.
Bank and Account Reconciliations:
Reconcile all assigned bank accounts daily, clear suspense GL accounts and promptly resolve discrepancies.
Month-end Close :
Prepare and post adjusting journal entries, accruals, prepayment amortization, and other close-related adjustments. Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed timely
Financial Reporting :
Generate cash position reports, variance analyses, and supporting schedules for management and auditors
Audit Support :
Provide accurate cash/GL documentation and reconciliation evidence for internal/external audits
Collaboration :
Work with Corporate Controller, Leadership, A/P, A/R, and payroll to ensure accurate coding, funding, and timely processing of transactions and reporting
Compliance Reporting :
Prepare schedules, report, and assist in preparing state and local taxes for reporting
Process Improvement :
Identify and implement improvements in cash data flow between Operations, Treasury Systems, and the
General Ledger Skills/Qualifications:
Associates degree in accounting and 3 years experience in accounting 5 years
•experience in cash/GL accounting and reconciliations Proficient in
US GAAP, ERP
systems (SAP, Oracle preferred), MS Office, other Accounting software
•Sage 100 a plus! Strong analytical, problem solving, time management Strong written, verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and collaborate with the team Able to establish and meet deadlines

Schedule :
Monday
•Friday, full-time, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. Start/End Times to be determined
Work Location :
This is a 100%, on-site position
Salary :
This is a fulltime, hourly, non-exempt position.
Starting salary range is:
$27.19
•$32.39 per hour (depending on experience)
