Staff Accountant

  • Inventory
  • Colfax, WA The McGregor Company serves growers in Washington, Idaho and Oregon with the seed, crop inputs, equipment, services, research, and advice needed to raise healthy, sustainable crops. We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant
  • Inventory to join our team in Colfax. Reporting to the Associate Controller, the Staff Accountant
  • Inventory will own the inventory accounting function for The McGregor Company, including inventory-related general ledger functions, reconciliations, freight vendor management, and month-end close activities.

This position is an individual contributor role with the potential to supervise an Inventory Specialist as the team grows.

Responsibilities:

Own the inventory accounting function for The McGregor Company, including month-end inventory reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting requirements. Perform inventory-related general ledger functions, including inventory reconciliations, freight vendor management, and freight accruals. Process McGregor Seed month-end accruals. Handle paperwork and procedures to ensure an efficient and accurate inventory management system. Review and process inventory transfers, returns, and receiving's to ensure the accuracy of inventory. Set up new products and blend codes when appropriate. Support Service Managers, Bookkeepers, Customer Account Specialists, and Service Centers in AgOS on a daily basis. Research and resolve inventory issues with vendors or branches; demonstrating a high level of professionalism through in-person, telephone, mail or email communications. Analyze and troubleshoot negative inventory situations to determine cause and resolution. Continually evaluate internal processes and develop solutions for improving inventory accounting and operational procedures. Provide back-up and support to other accounting personnel as needed. Potential to supervise an Inventory Specialist as the team grows, including managing workload, resolving questions, and ensuring deadlines and monthly reconciliations are met. Other duties as assigned by the Associate Controller or Controller.

Qualifications:

Detail-oriented accounting professional who is comfortable working independently and prioritizing competing deadlines. Strong written, verbal, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Ability to research and resolve inventory and vendor issues with professionalism across multiple channels of communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

Four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred. Two or more years of related accounting experience. Knowledgeable of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Accounting experience in the agriculture industry. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position with anticipated pay between $23.00
