Construction Accountant Primo Electric Inc - 3.5 Vancouver, WA Job Details Full-time $50 - $72 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Labor cost analysis Analysis skills QuickBooks Cash management Project management software Full Job Description Job Summary Primo Electric is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Construction Accountant / Financial Controller to bring greater financial clarity, accuracy, and accountability to our growing electrical contracting company. This is not simply a bookkeeping position. We are looking for someone who understands construction accounting, job costing, project profitability, labor costs, margins, and cash flow and can turn that financial information into insights ownership can actually use. The primary goal of this role is to help Primo Electric understand where we're making money, where we're losing money, and what needs to change to improve profitability as the company grows. Duties & Responsibilities Review, clean up, and maintain accurate company financial records Review and analyze the P&L, balance sheet, and cash-flow statement Establish and maintain accurate job-costing systems Track revenue, materials, labor, subcontractor costs, and other expenses by project Analyze profitability and gross margin by individual job and project type Compare estimated job costs and margins against actual results Review labor costs, labor efficiency, and their impact on project profitability Identify jobs, customers, or types of work that consistently produce strong or weak margins Review and oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable Improve processes for invoicing, collections, vendor payments, and financial follow-up Monitor outstanding receivables and help improve cash collection Develop company budgets and ongoing cash-flow forecasts Monitor actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts Create clear monthly financial reporting packages for ownership Establish financial KPIs and dashboards to provide better visibility into company performance Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities and communicate them clearly to ownership Help leadership understand the true financial impact of operational and pricing decisions Work closely with the company's CPA, bookkeeper, operations team, and ownership Help establish financial processes and controls that can support a significantly larger company Qualifications Previous experience in construction accounting, financial management, controllership, or a similar role Direct experience with a construction company, electrical contractor, general contractor, or skilled-trades business strongly preferred Strong understanding of construction job costing and project-based accounting Experience analyzing project profitability, gross margins, labor costs, and cost variances Strong understanding of P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash-flow statements Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting Knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and collections Ability to evaluate estimated vs. actual project performance Experience with construction accounting and/or project-management software preferred QuickBooks experience preferred, if applicable Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy Ability to take complex financial information and explain it clearly to non-financial leadership Comfortable identifying financial problems and recommending practical solutions Able to work collaboratively with ownership, operations, bookkeepers, and outside CPAs Comfortable entering a growing company and building stronger financial systems and controls What Success Looks Like Success means ownership can confidently answer questions like: Which jobs are actually profitable? Are we pricing our work correctly? What are our true labor costs? Where are our margins being lost? How much cash will we have three months from now?
