JOB SUMMARY
: The Controller will oversee the management and oversight of the property accounting teams, month end close, financial statement reviews, and audits. This position will also assist with streamlining and centralizing accounting processes, improve financial reporting, and perform advanced accounting tasks. Responsible for excellent communication between the accounting team, operations, and ownership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee financial reporting and cash management for portfolio assets. Drive performance and develop our talent. Execute accounting department initiatives and projects. Ensure compliance with third party client accounting policies and procedures, in line with GAAP accounting. Assist with internal and external audits. Provide analysis in the development and monitoring of short and long-term strategic financial objectives. Provide leadership and management of a team. Develop accounting staff through training, delegation of duties and goal setting. Develop and implement financial tools that communicate information clearly and effectively throughout the company. Refine and implement financial controls used by management and accounting personnel. Review processes, offer recommendations, and implement efficiencies, including ways to take advantage of functionality within Yardi System. Assist with the consolidation of the property management entity financial statements. Manage the process for financial forecasting, budgets, consolidation, and reporting. Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, and introduction of new programs/strategies. Manage monthly financial closing processes to ensure financials are properly recorded. Manage timely and accurate preparation, review, and distribution of financial statements. Develop policies and procedures for department, as well as checks and balances. Provide pro-active communication and decision support to staff and facilitate cohesive working relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
: Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or equivalent experience. Three plus years related experience in property management/real estate. Two plus years of managerial experience.
Preferred industry software experience:
Yardi, Realpage, Entrata, etc. Familiarity with GAAP in property management industry required. May require the need for frequent shifting of priorities and deadlines. Must have a valid driver's license and valid liability insurance.
OFFICE EXPERIENCE
Proficient in MS Office, including M365, word, and excel; knowledge of office management systems and procedures, excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize work. Attention to details and problem-solving skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
: Ability to read and interpret documents such as emails, utility billings, financial documents, instructional documents, rental agreements, and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.
REASONING ABILITY
: Ability to add and subtract numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
