Job Description
Project Accountant Catalyst Consulting Group is assisting our client in the confidential search for an experienced Project Accountant . This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established, construction organization where you'll play an integral role in supporting the success of projects from startup through completion. The ideal candidate enjoys collaborating with project teams, analyzing financial performance, solving problems and helping keep projects financially on track. The Opportunity As a Project Accountant, you'll serve as a trusted partner to project managers and leadership by overseeing the accounting functions for multiple construction projects. You'll help monitor budgets, manage project billing, reconcile costs, analyze financial performance and contribute to continuous process improvements. This position offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the organization's continued growth. What You'll Do Manage the accounting activities for assigned construction projects from startup through closeout Establish and closely monitor project budgets, costs and profitability Partner with project managers to provide financial guidance, answer questions and support informed decision making. Prepare customer billings and oversee project receivables Maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and analyze project financial performance Review labor, subcontractor and vendor costs to ensure accurate job costing Evaluate project changes and their financial impact Investigate financial variances and provide recommendations to help improve project performance Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting Support month-end and year-end accounting activities What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field At least 3-5 years of experience in project or construction accounting Working knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing and progress billing Experience with AIA billing is preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Experience with construction accounting and project management software is preferred A proactive, positive professional who enjoys contributing to a collaborative team environment Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with project teams, clients, banks, vendors and leadership Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment If you're looking for an opportunity to combine your accounting expertise with a collaborative, project-focused environment where your work directly contributes to business success, we'd love to hear from you!
