Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team in Hayward, WI as Cost Accountant. The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing, tracking, and reporting costs associated with products, materials, labor and manufacturing operations. This position supports management by providing accurate cost information, monitoring inventory valuation, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring financial data is properly recorded and reported.Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain standard costs for products and inventory items.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, material usage, labor costs, and overhead expenses.
- Prepare monthly cost accounting reports and variance analyses.
- Investigate and explain significant cost variances.
- Monitor product profitability and gross margins.
- Reconcile inventory accounts and ensure accurate valuation.
- Analyze inventory transactions and identify discrepancies.
- Assist with physical inventory counts and adjustments.
- Prepare journal entries related to inventory and cost accounting.
- Assist with month-end and year end closing activities.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Work closely with production, purchasing, engineering and operations teams.
- Maintain cost accounting data with ERP system.
- Develop and improve costing procedures and internal controls
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- 3-5 Years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or cost accounting.
- Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics Nav/Business Central - preferred, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
- Experience with inventory accounting and standard costing methodologies.
