JOB POSTING TITLE
Bookkeeper to Town Supervisor
JOB DESCRIPTION
The selected proposer will assist the Town Supervisor, in matters including, but not limited to: maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, preparing reports, providing audit support, and performing related bookkeeping and payroll functions in accordance with Town procedures and applicable law.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in bookkeeping or accounting, public sector bookkeeping, and/or fiscal administration.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Williamson Law Books, Excel and Word; municipal bookkeeping experience preferred.
  • Preferred:
    experience with municipal accounting software, including Williamson Law Book, if applicable.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping principles, financial recordkeeping, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with Town officials, employees, auditors, vendors, and the public.
  • Ability to work with the Town Supervisor and office staff, as well as independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred:
familiarity with New York local government accounting requirements, Annual Financial Report support, audit preparation, retirement reporting, or similar public-sector processes.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Term, Schedule, and Compensation The engagement is expected to begin on or about July 21, 2026 for an initial term of 1 year, with an estimated workload of 15/20 per week at the rate of $20/23/hr. commensurate with experience. Final terms will be subject to Town Board approval. Professional businesses may provide other payroll propositions.
