Job Description
Job Title Administrative Assistant 3 - Joey A. Jacobs Chair of Excellence in Accounting Department Accounting Salary $36,857 - $44,954; commensurate with experience Job Summary/Basic Function The Administrative Assistant 3 provides effective and efficient event planning, administrative, and operational support to the Joey A. Jacobs Chair of Excellence in Accounting within the Department of Accounting of the Jones College of Business at MTSU. Through a generous endowment from the late Joey A. Jacobs, the Jacobs Chair of Excellence provides leadership in the field of accounting. The role includes support for course and program development; delivery of conferences, workshops, and other events; student engagement; outreach to the accounting and other relevant business communities; international outreach; and efforts to promote visibility of MTSU's accounting program, including through publications and social media. To further these activities, the Jacobs Chair of Excellence works in partnership with key bodies and institutions both within and outside of MTSU, including the accounting department's honor society (Beta Alpha Psi), the Nashville School of Law, professional bodies in accountancy and related fields, industry experts, government bodies, and other universities, among others. This role supports the Jacobs Chair of Excellence by providing event planning and related communications; assistance with marketing and promotion of events; social media postings; catering arrangements; travel arrangements (for the Jacobs Chair, various speakers, and relevant others); selection and ordering of memorabilia, awards, small gifts, promotional materials, etc.; room reservations; maintaining records and electronic files (including registrations and rosters for events); preparing reports; coordinating with relevant colleagues and partners within and outside MTSU; serving as a point of contact to problem-solve issues for the Jacobs Chair and those with whom the chair works; assisting with academic and administrative processes; and other activities to support the Jacobs Chair. Required Education High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) required. Required Related Experience Two years of secretarial, clerical, administrative, or similar experience, preferably including event planning or related experience in a support or customer service-focused environment; internships or student employment may be considered.
