About the Opportunity This is a hands-on accounting role within a small, three-person accounting department . You'll have real ownership of the general ledger and will work closely with people throughout the company. This is a good fit for someone who likes being close to the business and doesn't need a huge accounting department or layers of management around them. You'll interact with Operations, IT, and other areas of the company, so being comfortable working with a wide variety of people is important. You don't have to know everything coming in. I'm much more interested in someone who has a solid accounting foundation, takes ownership, asks good questions, and wants to keep learning. Milwaukee — 100% onsite The office is located in a vibrant Milwaukee neighborhood with plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, and things to do nearby. This is an onsite, Monday-Friday opportunity, but there is also a very healthy boundary around the job. The expectation is 40 hours a week, and then you go home. There is no expectation that you'll routinely take work home or work nights and weekends. Being onsite is important in this role because the best accounting leaders become cost hawks and curious business partners — they walk the floor, ask how the machinery works, understand how labor is being used, see how materials move through the supply chain, and learn how the business really makes money. You simply have more opportunity to build relationships, demonstrate your leadership, and grow beyond the accounting function when you're there in person. If you have something important going on, they're happy to work with you — come in a little earlier, leave a little earlier, and take care of what matters. What You'll Be Doing Own the day-to-day general ledger function, including journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and researching discrepancies or unusual transactions. Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close and the preparation of financial statements. Prepare and analyze financial and operational reporting, including sales, inventory, margins, and variances. Work with Operations and other departments on product costing, inventory valuation, and cost, margin, and inventory analysis. Assist with audits, tax filings, customer rebates, fixed assets, and other accounting and compliance activities. Help maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, documentation, and internal controls. Look for ways to make accounting processes more efficient and accurate. Partner with IT and Operations to improve ERP functionality, reporting, workflows, and data integrity. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Solid accounting experience and comfort working with the general ledger. Someone who is comfortable being hands-on and tactical, while also thinking about how things can be improved. Someone who enjoys a smaller-company environment and interacting with people across the organization. Someone who wants to grow. There is a genuine opportunity here for this person to eventually take on broader leadership of the accounting function.
