Job Description

Auditor II - Onsite at Colorado Springs CO - Contract to Hire About the
Job:
As an Auditor II, you will perform financial, compliance, and performance audits in accordance with professional standards and the City Auditor's policies. This is a journey-level position, requiring intermediate proficiency in internal audit methodologies, data analysis, and communication. You will work independently on assigned audits and contribute to the City's Commitment to accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement. As an Auditor II , you will: Plan and perform audits, including risk assessment, audit program development, and fieldwork. Evaluate internal controls, fraud risk, and operational efficiency using structured audit techniques. Conduct interviews, analyze data, and document findings clearly and objectively. Draft audit reports and present findings and recommendations to management. Support external audits, fraud investigations, and consulting engagements. Participate in internal quality assessments and contribute to process improvements. Collaborate with other assurance providers to align audit coverage. Maintain current knowledge of audit standards, practices, and emerging risks. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Applies the Global Institute of Internal Audit Standards and the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF). Demonstrates ethical judgment, objectivity, and confidentiality. Uses risk-based audit methodologies and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, ACL). Communicates clearly and professionally with diverse stakeholders. Manages time, budget, and tasks across multiple projects. Understands governance, risk management, compliance, and fraud frameworks. Evaluates operational processes across finance, HR, IT, and other functions. Applies knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and IT control frameworks (e.g., NIST, COBIT). Minimum Qualifications We value a diverse range of qualifications and experiences. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related area of study. Three years of full-time, professional experience in a related field.
