https://www.spc.int/ Page 1 The Geoscience, Energy and Maritime Division (GEM) applies scientific and technical innovation to develop practical solutions to key development challenges facing Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs). The Division supports its members through the generation of critical data, applied science, policy-relevant analysis, and technical advisory services across geoscience, energy transition, climate resilience, and maritime domains. GEM works in close partnership with countries to understand regional challenges and co-develop solutions to some of the most significant risks confronting the Pacific region. Within GEM, the Georesources and Energy Programme (GEP) brings together expertise in energy systems, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and the sustainable management of Pacific georesources. The Programme integrates technical analysis, policy support, regional coordination, and institutional strengthening across the energy value chain. This integrated approach enables SPC to support its members in advancing secure, resilient, and sustainable energy systems aligned with regional priorities and global commitments. The Pacific Regional Energy Auditor position is established within the GEP under the GEM Division, as part of the Denmark-SPC initiative " Strengthening Regional Energy Governance in the

Pacific:

Towards the Establishment of a Pacific Renewable Energy Commissioner ". The role contributes to the phased establishment of strengthened regional energy governance mechanisms by providing independent technical oversight, regional energy monitoring and reporting, and evidence-based analysis to support decision-making, accountability, and advocacy. The Pacific Regional Energy Auditor will be based at SPC and will report to the Deputy Director - GEP. The role will work closely with SPC technical teams across GEM and other divisions, Council of Regional Organisations of the Pacific (CROP) agencies, national governments, and development partners. The position will also support regional coordination and institutional readiness in preparation for the formal establishment of the Pacific Regional Energy Commissioner (REC).
