Job Description
The Traveling Energy Auditor will travel extensively (up to 75% time each month) to Community Action Agencies across the state of Illinois, providing services to agencies which lack staff in building performance roles, operating specialized tools and equipment for the purposes of improved building performance, energy efficiency, and client health and safety, and recommending appropriate training for Community Action Agency staff when deficiencies are found. Time not spent in the field will be spent at the Training Center located in Champaign, IL. At least 2 years' experience in construction, building inspection, cost estimation, housing rehabilitation, etc. or a combination of training and experience. High school diploma or GED. Have good working knowledge of construction methods and building materials. Must obtain the BPI Building Science Principles Certificate within the first month of employment. Must obtain the Illinois Energy Auditor Training Program Certification within the first 6 months of employment. Must have a current and valid Illinois driver's license.
